House Rules
Please be considerate and respect our property, leave the place as you found it.
No smoking inside the dormitory or near the barn. We ask that you smoke in designated areas only and place cigarette butts in the marked receptacles.
Please do not adjust the room temperature. The main building is heated using radiant floor heat maintained at a constant 72 degrees.
Campfires are permitted, but please do not leave them unattended.
Remember that the country is very quiet at night and sound travels, so please be considerate and keep the noise level down past 11pm as a courtesy to the neighbours.
Maple Sweet is on a septic system. Flushing anything but toilet paper may clog the system which is almost guaranteed to ruin your stay.
No pets allowed.
If you find something broken or not in working repair, please let us know so we can fix it for you and the next guests.
Enjoy your stay!

Things to Note
Welcome to Maple Sweet. We hope you enjoy your stay and share your experiences and photos with your friends and family and return for another stay in the near future. We have tried to anticipate your needs and hope that we have not missed providing you with anything that you deem critical to the enjoyment of your stay. Please make yourself at home and make use of what we have to offer.
Please note that we provide all bedding for 16 guests, however we do not provide towels or personal items/toiletries with the exception of toilet paper. In addition to what you will find in the kitchen, there are refrigerators and a freezer in the pantry and there is a BBQ outside the main front doors. For your safety, both stoves are induction and will heat much quicker that a conventional stove as well as cool down very quickly. The burners will work only when there is a pot placed on them. Once the pot is removed, the burner will automatically turn off. Spills can be easily wiped up with soap & water for your convenience.

Barn
The barn is currently off limits. We will be adding animals to the experience in the spring of 2016, but until then, the barn is considered unsafe.
The Woods
We invite you to go for a walk in the woods at the back of the property. Please follow the tire tracks through the field behind the barn which will take you to the primary entrance to the forest. Some of the trails have overgrown over the past 4 years and we are working hard with the aid of a local Scouting group to re-establish them. Please use caution as you cross the bridge and watch for tripping hazards and low hanging branches.
Campfire
A fire pit is located on the ‘island’ near the front of the lodge and firewood is available in the bin under the tree. Please stack the chairs near the front entrance when you are finished to prevent them from blowing across the driveway.
Waste
There is a bin for garbage at the back of the lodge and we encourage you to use it at your convenience. If you wish to compost your food waste, we request that you take it home with you as we discourage it on the farm to prevent the attraction of animals and rodents near the buildings. Recycling can be put into the blue bins.
Generator
The main lodge is hooked up to an emergency generator in the event of a power failure. While it will not power bedroom lights, the in-floor heating, water, refrigeration and some main lights will remain on, under generator power until hydro can be restored. There are flashlights in each bedroom for your additional convenience and safety. Please remember to put them back so they can be easily found again.
Smoking
There are several areas on the property where smoking is strictly prohibited. These include inside any of the buildings, and anywhere near the barn or old farmhouse. Both structures are well over 100 years old and as such the wood is highly flammable. There are several red metal buckets for disposal of cigarette butts available for your use. Please be respectful and do not discard butts on the ground.
First Aid Kit
We hope you won’t need it but a first aid kit is located on the kitchen wall near the water cooler. The nearest hospital is in Meaford.
